The crown chakra is the 7th chakra, and it is related to the spiritual world.

You have surely heard of the chakras. Whether it’s through a friend of yours who is obsessed with yoga or New Age spiritual practices or through television, with serial characters calming down that their chakras are blocked.

But can you honestly say that you know what chakras are? Most certainly not! And you are far from the only one. It is why I will help you understand what it is.

I’ll keep it simple, and most importantly, I’ll show you how to align your chakras in a few simple steps. Why?

Because the chakras (wheels in Sanskrit) are the energy points of your body, this means that they need to be open for you to experience physical and emotional well-being.

These energy points refer to essential organs and bundles of nerves. So, when we say that the chakras are blocked, we are saying that the communication between these energy points is weak, if not nonexistent.

The term “chakra” first appeared between 1500 and 1000 BC in India. And if at the time, we spoke of 114 chakras, today we consider that there are seven main ones.

And these seven chakras are found on your spine.

Each chakra corresponds:

  • a number
  • a name
  • a color
  • a specific area of the spine, from the sacrum to the top of the head
  • a health goal

A quick explanation of each of the seven chakras

We will analyze each of the seven chakras, one by one, and especially try to understand how to open and align them. You will find the link for the corresponding article under each of the chakras below.

For now, we are just going to list the seven chakras, and today we will focus on the 7th chakra, the Crown chakra.

1. Root Chakra

Muladhara is our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded.

2. Sacred Chakra

Swadhisthana helps us understand our relationship to our emotions and those of others. It also governs creativity and sexual energy.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra

Manipura is related to your ability to be confident and to be in control of your life. Remember the last time you had butterflies or felt a pit in your stomach: the Manipura chakra at work.

4. Heart Chakra

Anahata is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love – from others and ourselves.

5. Throat Chakra

The Vishuddha gives voice to the heart chakra and controls our ability to communicate our power. When it is functioning at its maximum capacity, it allows us to express ourselves honestly and clearly.

6. Frontal Chakra (third eye)

Ajna controls our ability to see the big picture and connect with our intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul: it records information beyond the surface level.

7. Crown Chakra

The Sahasrara sits at the top of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. You can access higher consciousness when you fully open your crown chakra – which very few people do.

The Crown Chakra opens your spiritual world.

The Sahasrara, or Crown chakra, the highest chakra, sits at the top of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually.

When you fully open your Crown Chakra – which very few people do – you can access higher consciousness.

  • Location: the top of the head
  • What he controls: inner and outer beauty, spiritual connection
  • Lesson: “I am a receptacle for love and light”
  • Color: purple / white
  • Element: divine consciousness
  • Stone: clear quartz
  • Yoga pose: pear tree
  • When it develops: 43-49 years

The Crown Chakra is related to all the other chakras (and therefore to all the organs in this system), and therefore it affects not only all of these organs but also our brain and nervous system.

It is considered the enlightenment chakra and represents our connection with our life’s purpose and our spirituality. People with blocked Crown Chakra may appear narrow-minded, skeptical, or stubborn.

When this chakra is opened, it is believed to help keep all other chakras open and bring bliss and enlightenment.

How to open the 7th chakra, the crown chakra?

The three leading causes of Crown chakra blockage are:

  • Distrust or disbelief in spirituality
  • Secular thought
  • Cynicism

Therefore, the majority of people whose crown chakra is not aligned are agnostics and atheists. An unhealthy or imbalanced Crown Chakra can lead to severe illnesses such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, isolation, loneliness, stroke, coma, migraines, disturbances of the nervous system, sleep disorders, glandular disorders, chronic pain, epilepsy, listlessness, bone cancer, and brain cancer.

Common psychological symptoms of a blockage of the 7th chakra, the Crown chakra:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Mental disconnection
  • Loss of faith
  • Confusion

Common physical symptoms of a crown chakra blockage:

  • Light sensitivity
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Headache
  • Various neurological disorders

Here are some techniques that will help you open your Crown chakra:

1. Avoid being selfish is the best way to work on your crown chakra

Selfishness and self-confidence are two different things. Self-confidence stems from the acceptance that comes with knowledge, while selfishness stems, in most cases, from insecurity or fear.

Learning to release your ego is a fantastic way to heal the crown chakra.

2. To align your 7th chakra, the chakra of the spiritual world, choose love.

People must start by loving themselves and by loving those around them. We are unable to love others until we begin to love ourselves fully.

It is also the first step towards accepting others in our life. Choosing to love yourself opens the 7th chakra (the Crown chakra) and likely releases tension from the other chakras.

3. Burn Sahaswara incense and essential oils to align your Crown chakra

Through aromatherapy, we can awaken the crown chakra and inspire connection with divine energy. Connect to your Crown Chakra by burning illuminating aromas like myrrh, camphor, and frankincense.

Here are some products that we can recommend (tested and approved):

Myrrh Oil – Mystic Moments

4. Crystals are also your friends when it comes to working on your crown chakra.

Try working with Rutilated Quartz, Sugilite, Clear Quartz, Selenite, or Amethyst to help open your Crown Chakra.

Meditate with them, place them on your altar or near your pillow while you sleep, and keep a journal with them to see what comes out of what is blocking your crown chakra.

Here are some products that I can recommend (tested and approved):

Natural stone pendulums – Carrie Baby

Choose the crystal you need to work on your 7 chakras and reconnect with your inner self.

5. Repeat positive affirmations about enlightenment and spiritual connection to open the seven chakras.

We set intentions that break old habits and open our minds to new thoughts and experiences by repeating affirmations.

To open the Crown Chakra, set aside time each day to repeat these affirmations aloud, in your head, or writing. Below are some examples of affirmations to balance the Crown chakra:

  • I feel connected to my higher self.
  • I am an extension of the universe.
  • I get advice from my higher self.
  • I am complete with the divine.

6. Reconnect with your deep self to open your spiritual self chakra

Mindful breathing is a form of meditation that calms the mind and opens the Crown Chakra. Close your eyes by sitting in a standing position with your legs crossed or lying on your back in a savasana position.

Concentrate on your breathing while inhaling and exhaling. When thoughts arise, observe them and let them go. Over time you will feel a sense of spirituality that exists as we connect with our divine selves.

7. Practice postures that stabilize the Crown Chakra, the spiritual self chakra.

Yoga helps to connect the spiritual and the physical of the body through postures, called asanas. The connection with the breath during the practice of asanas allows you to release tension and open the crown chakra.

Some of the meditative postures include the lotus or half-lotus, the savasana, and the tree posture.

8. Reconnect with your deep self to open your spiritual chakra

9. Open your crown chakra through prayer

Prayer is a personal ritual for many people, so it varies from person to person, but it does not have to be alien, religious, or formal.

It can be as simple as setting an intention in your daily yoga practice or closing your eyes and communicating with your creator/universe, and letting your inner voice guide you.

When the seven chakras are balanced, harmony spreads, and with it, a powerful sense of well-being. Remember that opening your Crown Chakra will allow you to learn how to reach your deep spiritual self.

If you can understand who you are spiritual, you will have aligned your Crown Chakra.
